Bikaner Camel Festival is an annual festival dedicated to the ship of the desert. Organised by Rajasthan Tourism in the month of January, the celebrations include spectacular camel performances like camel races, camel dances, camel milking, fur cutting design, best breed competition, camel acrobatics and camel beauty pageants. The camels themselves are beautifully bedecked and form a colourful spectacle against the red backdrop of the Junagarh Fort. Beautifully adorned camels and performances by artists from different regions are the key attraction for both domestic and foreign tourists. There’s plenty of scope for eating, souvenir-shopping and photography at this festival. Other sights to watch out for include the skirt-swirling folk dancers, fire dancers and the spectacular fireworks show, that lights up the night sky above the fortified Desert City.

How to Reach:

Bikaner is a beautiful historical city located in the north western Rajasthan. It is easily approachable by train, air and by road from almost all parts of the country.

Nal Airforce Station, also Bikaner Air Force Station, (BKB) is located 13 kilometres west of Bikaner. The civil enclave within it is operated by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and regular flights were inaugurated in 2017.

In 1889, the states of Jodhpur and Bikaner jointly formed the Jodhpur–Bikaner Railway to promote railway development. In 1891 Jodhpur–Bikaner railway line was opened. Bikaner railway station (BKN) was constructed in 1891 and is on North Western Railway. Multiple daily, weekly, biweekly or tri-weekly trains are available for all the major cities of the country.

Bikaner can be reached from every major cities through a wide network of state and national highways. Private cabs and buses ply on regular basis from every city of Rajasthan and other prominent cities like New Delhi, Agra, Surat etc.
