Itinerary: Jodhpur

3 Days:

Day 1:

Visit Umaid Bhawan Palace. It shouldn’t take more than 3 hrs. Return to Clock Tower (Ghanta Ghar). Visit Jodhpur stepwell (Tunwarji ka Jhalra) which is at a walking distance from Clock Tower. In evening you can shop in the markets near Clock Tower. Nai Sarak, Mochi Bazaar (for famous Jodhpuri Juti), Tambaku Bazaar (for betel nut and mouth-fresheners etc), handloom market (for famous tie and dye prints of Jodhpur) are all very near to Clock Tower.

Day 2:

Start early. Visit Mehrangarh Fort. It consists of various palaces, very well kept museums, galleries, It is a very big fort and if you are even a bit interested in history, it will take 3-4 hrs to visit. It is always advisable to take an audio guide with the entry ticket. Next, visit the Rao Jodha Rock Desert Park (400 mts. to Mehrangarh Fort) to witness the quite impressive geological feature known as Malani Igneous Suite Contact representing the last phase of igneous activity of Precambrian age in the Indian Subcontinent and flora and fauna of the deserts. Again the services of a guide is advisable. In evening, visit Jaswant Thada which is cenotaphs of former rulers of Jodhpur. Jaswant Thada is also famous as ‘Taj Mahal’ of Mewar.

Day 3:

Visit Mandore Garden. It is around 10 km from city. Mandore was earlier capital of Jodhpur. The garden consists of cenotaphs of former rulers of Jodhpur. If Jaswant Thada is to ‘Taj Mahal’ then Mandore Garden is to Khajurho in case sculptural beauty and excellence. Evening can be enjoyed walking leisurely or buying famous Namkeens of Jodhpur or souvenirs etc.

4 Days:

Day 1, 2 and 3 could be planned as described above.

Day 4:

On this day you can visit Machiya Biological Park and in evening visit, Kailana lake (around 4 km from Machiya Biological Park).
